@GrungeQueef
You actually can not travel from one town to another in the first game the Elder Scrolls Arena except by quick travel even though they let you go to the wilderness and even though there are towers, dungeons, houses and temples in the wilderness
The ability to travel on foot started in daggerfall but the wilderness is very repetitive in daggerfall once you are familiar with it
Basicly there are certain kinds of backgrounds that repeat and there are hills, flat areas, land or water
People have posted videos of creating a daggerfall character taking out a loan buying a boat traveling to the last dungeon skipping quests to get there by normal means and doing what would be equivelent to completing the final dungeon except with no quest to do so as fast as possible in speed run format on youtube
@shortstories @GrungeQueef In Daggerfall you can buy a boat, fast travel to it, jump off the side, run straight West (I recommend using the fast walk cheat), and end up at a square of land with an entrance to Mantellan Crux, the end dungeon.
I first documented this in the late late 90s on a long-defunct forum once owned by a man who may now be dead.
