They did not need to revive it because it essentially was the same as Arabic and Aramaic spoken by Muslims in the middle east and some branches of the Church of the East in the middle East

These two languages are much closer to ancient Hebrew than the languages of the Ashkenazi Jews before the so called revival

In fact the book of Daniel was in Aramaic

Ancient Syriac is also important for new testament scholarship

The original Israelites were Syrian also known as Aramean
