I predict The scotus tariff ruling is about to either end the trump presidency or crash the economy, because the tariffs were largely directed against China.
Now that scotus has effectively pulled the teeth out of trumps foreign policy, China no longer has any reason to abide by the 2025 October "pause" agreements trump made. And what were those agreements?
Trump dropped tariffs in exchange for Beijing ending their retaliatory boycott of US soybeans corn and rice, which nearly crashed the US agricultural industry.
Specific targets for continued buying were set. Now that trump can't slam Beijing with additional tariffs at a whim, and now that Brazil has a bumper crop of soybeans to export to China, I suspect the general secretary will walk away from most of the US soybean market entirely.
The silver lining is trumps five trillion dollar budget, which might offer don enough wiggle room to avoid serious repercussions but will almost surely mean we will spend most of the budget on farms, and will continue to do so for decades to come.
