My Life has gotten better since i stopped caring about Politics and focused on what makes me happy. Focusing on Politics 24/7 is not good for your mental health. 
IMO, if the news cycle shut down entirely the mental health of the world would improve so drastically that therapists would no longer be needed.

I believe at the very top of the power hierarchy are a team of fiction writers that hand scripts through a chain of third party individuals that eventually lead to all the major news outlets that share the same story with slight edits disguised as biased so people do not realize all the major news events come from the same source and are fiction
Some advertisements for products and some local news might be non fiction and are the exception to the general rule

If my previous point is true then The world is not run by politicians or corporations or bankers but by the fiction writers that write the news
