Was he able to stay in New York for twenty years without being captured because of a special relationship with the Jewish community? Was he staying in New York all this time or did he travel to other countries or regions?

It was allegedly in New York and the guy was rich and his name they pronounced Fisher which was the same last name as the Jew Bobby Fisher but they spelled it Fiser in the captions I saw
