Wisconsin’s presumptive Democrat candidate for governor:

Ahhh yes Hong. Super common name growing up in the upper Midwest.

I heard the Hmong community made a new policy in Minnesota to allow two people with the same last name of Yang to marry each other because it used to be illegal in Hmong tradition to marry someone with the same last name even if they are not a biological relative of a certain amount or closer.

They would rather marry someone with the same last name than marry someone who is not Hmong,

or maybe they would be willing to marry someone who is not Hmong but the person who they like and want to marry happens to be a Hmong person with the last name of Yang so frequently they changed the rule

I wonder how many people with a last name of Kim, marry other Korean people named Kim

I am saying this because someone said Hong is a common name in the Midwest

@shortstories @Evil_Bender @obihahn It was illegal for a Kim to marry another Kim for hundreds of years until the 90s. It's not uncommon now, but it still comes up as a mildly taboo topic in their media occasionally.
