If no light can escape a black hole then how can a black hole emit light?
@shortstories @kibcol1049 Light can't escape the black hole itself. Light can be emitted from the materials going into it before it's sucked in.

So are you saying that at a certain distance from a black hole an object effected by a black hole can emit extra light that it would not have otherwise emitted because of the black hole and that this light is too far away to be stopped from escaping by the black hole but light closer than that distance can not escape?
