In the Australian state of Victoria, and during the last two decades, the cost of electricity has indeed outpaced inflation.

In sweden, the answer is a clear yes, because they enjoy a political oligopoly and the politicians show zero interest in fixing the problem.

The prices probably went up because the government made so many data centers to spy on people for hate speech that there is a shortage of electricity for non-government consumers
