Hahaha, pretty funny. Just went through that, spot on.
@Chimi_Chuang_Tzu @sardonicsmile for all of you guys out there who dont know how to negotiate, let me tell you how.
While still employed with my current employer I apply to other jobs, go through the entire hiring process, when they ask me how much I make and why I want to leave my current job I tell them that I make 1 - 3 dlls more than what I actually make and that I am looking for a job where I can grow and do more things for the company

Then they offer me the job with a 1 - 3 dlls pay increase than the number I had given them, then I go to my boss and tell them that I am financially struggling and that I need to make more money, tell them that you where offered a job with better pay and say that you love your job and where you work and that you dont want to leave and ask him if he can match the pay. Then go for who ever pays you more, it is essential that you are a good worker.
@sardonicsmile @Chimi_Chuang_Tzu the new employer, does not expect anything more from you. You are not going up in title/position, carrer wise, it is a lateral move. You just get more pay for the same work. I work on a side project while I work on my main job so I dont really give it 100% at my job, I am quite good at what I do, but I have been slacking and my employer still thinks I am one of his best workers. There is no lousing scenario here or trade off, you just make more money.
@37712 @sardonicsmile
For sure that is good advice but its not always applicable. For me that new job is a step down, small company, and mostly remote. I don't mind the drop in pay for the work from home deal. The start up I'm currently with is having money issues but almost full funded so I'll be working two full time jobs for the short term. Salary wont matter that much at this point.
