Stupid people are over populated and intelligent people are under populated

@shortstories Disagree, I don't think humanity's biggest issue is a lack of intelligence, but rather too much collectivism and weakness.

Intelligent people aren't underpopulated, but weak people are overpopulated and the two groups aren't mutually exclusive at all.

Everyone thinks they're way smarter than the average person and the world is plagued by idiocy, yet they follow the group instinctively. You can increase their brain power all you want, their instinct is hard coded.

Confucianism is a entire worldview about following other people

China is or was the largest country in the world by population

China is Confucianist

I suspect Chinese IQ test results are rigged

Maybe since they have such a high population they hand pick the subjects who take the tests to rig the results if a third party is testing the people

Maybe they just make up numbers if there is no third party

@shortstories I wouldn't be shocked if there was some data manipulation, but it's not just China, Asians in general seem to possess the type of intelligence that IQ tests select. And despite their high IQs, they are very much collectivists and plagued by all the modern plagues humanity now faces.

People are smart enough, what they lack is precisely what they fear the most.

@Based_Accelerationist

There is a cultural reason for that

In ancient China people were selected for Government positions based on how well they did on tests

This would create a culture of studying to do well on tests in China, Japan and North and South Korea

This did not create a culture of inventing new things

But of memorizing old things for social status

So it could not help them develop better weapons

Europe developed better weapons and invaded Asian countries to force trade

@Based_Accelerationist @shortstories

IQ tests are very flawed.

And yes, China lies a lot about its numbers.

@LCCMV @Based_Accelerationist

I think Raven's progressive matrix does not test how smart you are because there are no clear instructions so all patterns could be justified without a set of rules

But it is claimed to be objective and culturally neutral because of the lack of instructions

I would say the lack of instructions make it even less culturally neutral

Because different cultures might think of patterns in different ways

@Based_Accelerationist @shortstories

Too much collectivism is a symptom of lack of intelligence. A survival mechanism of those who know they can't rely on themselves.

@LCCMV But who's actually incapable of relying on themselves? The stupid OR the weak?

Those who focus on intellectual pursuits, need the collective the most. As TFM says, society requires janitors so the scientists can do their research. There's an inverse correlation between intellectually demanding jobs and self-reliance. As such, the men who are often collectivist, aren't the farmers and the plumbers, but the scientists and the thinkers.

Collectivism is primarily a symptom of weakness.
