He wouldn't have said anything if the wife didn't send the one video out into the public. It's okay if you don't get it, but legal matters, especially with "creators," are also a matter of public relations. It's PR, fat. It's easy to "why why why why" all day until you have to juggle multiple interests (including business) at the same time.
