@sardonicsmile Milton Friedman was a smart man and in practice what he says is true to some extent here. However, it is not a smart nor a good thing since amnesty is an option and plenty of illegals still get issuance of ID and can roll off dolls in the US. Better to have organic economic action than to set the grounds for something that is disastrous should a governing body take the opportunity.
@FinalDresdonation I agree. I thought it was interesting to hear his insights but relative to what we are actually experiencing in the current year.
@sardonicsmile I think it goes to show that while free markets are amazing even the best of economists or thinkers can overlook something. Quite interesting. I remember his thoughts on China fairly well and while it did not make them 'freer' by any means it did expand their wealth significantly.
