The US tax system makes no sense to me.
IIRC the IRS ALREADY HAS records of all income I've made this year.
Why not just send me what they have and I just correct it if it's wrong like they do in Europe?
Seems like a waste of time to me.
@basedbagel Then they can't audit and fine people, to collect MORE than just taxes. Secondly, by putting the risk of error upon the individual (along with an incomprehensible and often purposefully vague set of governing laws) it allows them to attack people they don't like.
@basedbagel Thr day-to-day workers are absolutely incompetent pieces of shit who take a shitty system and turn it into a proper shit show spectacular. But I think the system itself was always intended to just get as much money and control as possible. It's never enough.
