Microsoft windows was originally designed with words for people who can read in their drop down menu or a dos based operating system with words

Apple started doing a trend of using pictures, pictures that you can not look up in a manual in alphabetical order like a dictionary and other features aimed at a audience that can not read

Then microsoft copied & the product quality declined
