I know you want to see the best in that advice, but it's ill-suited to a man.
Women manipulate. Men can manipulate. Women are miserable, which is why they always bitch. A man who adopts female life strategies will be miserable.
This misery is because women have no striving within them. They have no vision of anything beyond their immediate emotions. But a man does. So the misery of female behavior will hit him much harder.
Women are built for that. Men aren't.

@RodrickSage - I have a bio-father with the same mentality. He also has numerous suicide attempts under his belt (apparently, it runs in the family). I would shed no tears if he ever succeeded.
He has burned every relationship to the ground, because he uses and abuses people, one by one, until they've had enough.
He's chosen to be an absolute dirt bag. And I would love nothing more than to sever his head from his body, but that would break my grandma's heart. And she has always been kind.
