You know @Tfmonkey , this image made me remember one of the arguments from pastor from when I was still frequenting my protestant churches.
They would often argue, when posed that the old testament was too regressive, that judaism (or the abrahamic religion project) actually was very "progressive" (they actually used those words) because they were a step up from things that Babylon and other places hold as rituals, like human sacrifice.
I guess you can also put there that we have BCE liberals.

I am going to say they were right to stop the human sacrifice
The problem with descendants of Israel occured when they started doing human sacrifice that other nations were doing that descendants of Israel were forbidden from doing by Mosaic law
That is why the second country to expel them after Egypt was their homeland in Israel
That being said Israel is not the ancient homeland of Ashkenazi "Jews" primary ancestors who are caucasian not middle eastern
