I heard someone claim they swam 10 feet underwater while wearing seven life jackets or life vests on a podcast

the things people wear so they float instead of drowning while boating

@shortstories Probably "assisted".
He probably used a rope or chain, already anchored to the bottom of the pool to *pull* himself under water; reframing it as "swimming".
10 life jackets, though is farfetched to begin with.

@sardonicsmile @shortstories He probably didn't even do that. People just lie nowadays, about the most random and irrelevant things.

@RabbiMikeIsraetel @sardonicsmile

I could not do that even with one life jacket if Istarted on the surface of a pool or lake without diving in and without the assistance of an object to pull on

I imagine if you tried diving with a life jacket on you might accidentally get killed or injured in certain scenarios that would not do so without a life jacket

You should never dive unless the water is deep enough otherwise ypu might break your neck and die

Agreement. Float Coats are extremely bulky for that precise reason.
If the guy is diving rather than a proper Controlled Entry with a Float Coat/life jacket, he is certain to cause permanent body injuries.
Most likely a fake story.
