@LysanderMooner I think I tried 2 or one preworkout.
Most of the time it is greater coffee. With chemical taste and some supplements like amino acids, taurine, vitamins or minerals and similar in many workout supplements.
It is pretty bad if you work out in the evening 3-5 hours before you go to sleep because you will have really bad sleep. Like I had.
Effcet is that it hype you up and you will feel like want to move and feeling like small needles pricking your skin.
Drinking Coffee with water ( not dry ) in moderate amounts before exercising would have been safer

If the protein supplement is made from milk whey or soy then you can just consume dairy products or eat non gmo soybeans or non gmo soy milk instead
There are many examples like that
Any supplement other than food that works to boost performance is usually banned in the olympics
Even some foods can potentially be banned in the olympics
As such supplements usually do not boost performance without getting people disqualified but there might be exceptions to this
The purpose of protein supplements vs normal whole food might be if you have trouble consuming enough protein and they are easier to eat or drink
The purpose of vitamin pills with dietary elements added would be in case you do not get enough of these things in your diet
If a pre workout supplement lists caffeine and then a bunch of chemicals you do not know then it might be safer to just have coffee or some normal food with caffeine that you think is safe for you instead of caffeine plus unknown chemicals
@Stahesh @LysanderMooner
For example I believe that exceeding a certain amount of caffeine and thus of foods that contain caffeine can get people banned from the Olympics
