Question

The number 33 shows up more than it would by random chance in the news

Detailed Explanation of Fine details of question

If there are 90 whole numbers between 10 and 99 inclusively

33 should show up 1 in 90 times when there is a two digit whole number on the news

If 33 shows up more than 1 in 90 times when there is a two digit whole number on the news then it shows up more than it should by random chance

@shortstories Numbers appear and they don't. There is no such thing as a frequency with which a number "should" appear in nature with the exception of a pattern as described by a numerical formula such as the gravitational constant. In that sense if you are looking for its value and you run the math, it "should" appear.

What you're describing is Patternicity. You are trying to find patterns.

@DoubleD

Just count the number of two digit whole numbers in a set of news articles then count how many times the number 33 appears in those news articles

If it appears more than 1 in 90 times than the greater amount that exceeds 1 in 90 by the more one should suspect there is a causal reason for this pattern such as new writers making up numbers and choosing to put in the number 33 as a shout out to 33rd degree freemasons & or some other reason like they are copying and pasting from articles
