I have a proposal to address the ICE activity/immigrant welfare fraud/immgration issues in general. This is a proposal I doubt anyone on the left would agree with (and probably a good number on the right too).
I accept ending all ICE raids and activity on the condition that we abolish all welfare and welfare adjacent programs. If the immigrants are really making it on their own, then welfare being gone will not affect them.
And to make sure we do not fall into the trap that short sighted libertarians do, the order of operations goes like this: the welfare ends. THEN we can stop ICE activity. Thinking the order of operations are interchangeable shows that you have no ability to think.
Here is how you can keep welfare and let immigrants in
Federal, State and Local Sales tax
Create universal basic income but get rid of all other welfare programs except maybe free police, free military defense, free fire fighters and free health care and other free services that everyone qualifies for whether or not they are a immigrant
If we are going to be taxed for healthcare it should be free
In order to spend the universal basic income money they have to pay sales tax
Only welfare programs that everyone over 18 years old qualify for would remain, any wekfare program that some adults but not other adults qualify for need to be removed
A lot of these welfare programs I am talking about are called public services with the exception of universal basic income UBI
UBI would be issued once a day
To get UBI for that day you need to prove you are in the country on that day
Sales tax guarentees that you pay a fee every time you use the UBI
