The common critique I've noticed from multiple people is that ye olde boomer shooters wouldn't give you the amount of resources you get here, but after playing I realized on any of the real difficulty modes (hard, exterminatus), if you get hit by any non-pest enemy you'll take dark souls tier damage. You will die fucking fast.
