@Mr_Mister depends on the country but most countries wont let you legally renounce your citizenship un less you have citizenship in another country. Its kind of like you cant stop being a slave of XXX unless you have proov of ownership from slave owner YYY. Your citizenship is proof of ownership you are not free.
