@DoubleD usually it doesn't, cooperation has long term benefits that usually outweigh the short term gains.
@UncleIroh @DoubleD good point, the way I see it is voluntary interaction is preferable to involuntary action. But might must be used to secure this voluntary agreement. Peers and equals the balance of power keeps the trade off in check. But what about the poor and stupid people? Feelings fuck it up

That's why that phrase "Might Is Right" is inaccurate. Might just Is.
Every society has to embrace might, but those that fail to put violence in the service of something bigger are destined to die out.
Warrior classes & armies across pretty much all history are never in charge even though they could be & that fact opens up the real question, "if the strong (army) protect the weak (not army), under what values & what limits?"
This is why philosophy is important.
