My neck of the woods is about $3.25. You also have to remember the average driving distance per year in the states is 12000 miles. I have to drive 200 to see my grandma, 500 to see my wife’s.

But then those nice factory jobs were pulled out from under most of them when the decision was made to wreck the US Auto Industry and that lifestyle isn't quite so common there anymore.

I can work anywhere if I want to, but I've stopped actually building/selling houses lately. I do a little bit of gardening and keep chickens here, but you can't actually farm here. Has to be 100% wired in and protected and such. We've been in a position where it isn't really necessary for her to keep working for a decade, but it took her a long time to get to her position and it's important to her. The money is nothing to sneeze at either, of course. Sometime between 1-5 years more here I guess.

The laws and regulations make small farming impossible. That and mother fucking Monsanto.
