My neck of the woods is about $3.25. You also have to remember the average driving distance per year in the states is 12000 miles. I have to drive 200 to see my grandma, 500 to see my wife’s.

Thats how it was with my grandparents, but then fucking NAFTA and unions pushed all the factories overseas. There is no work in small towns anymore Its fake and gay.

Yeah it happened to a 200 year fucking old farm here. Guy was doing his rounds and the fucking bitch realtor was in his barn with guns saying his land was condemned. Good ending was the local rich guy bought it for premium as a fuck you to the state.

@Dan_Hulson @Tfmonkey @Dudebro @matty @tyler @infostormer When I was a kid it was pretty common for guys to work a factory job and farm ~40 acres at the same time where I grew up. But then those nice factory jobs were pulled out from under most of them when the decision was made to wreck the US Auto Industry and that lifestyle isn't quite so common there anymore.

We can't bring manufacturing jobs back, they're gone forever to the developing world.
The only way to rebuild small town America is with farming. I get that the government can steal your land if you live too close to a city, so move farther away and farm white man, farm.
@Tfmonkey @Dudebro @matty @tyler @Dan_Hulson @infostormer I'm with you, and want to do at least base self sufficiency farming, but Mrs. Sunshine wants to keep working here. I can work anywhere if I want to, but I've stopped actually building/selling houses lately. I do a little bit of gardening and keep chickens here, but you can't actually farm here. Has to be 100% wired in and protected and such. We've been in a position where it isn't really necessary for her to keep working for a decade, but it took her a long time to get to her position and it's important to her. The money is nothing to sneeze at either, of course. Sometime between 1-5 years more here I guess.
The laws and regulations make small farming impossible. That and mother fucking Monsanto.
