@Tfmonkey If you've never seen it before, you can't tell how large it all is without something to compare its size to.
@BowsacNoodle The box is about 3 times the depth / thickness of a typical board game box. Definitely fatter than the D&D starter box, and about twice as wide.
@RoninGrey @BowsacNoodle here is an ad-hoc tier list of HeroQuest expansions (I own them all).
1. Against the Ogre Horde
2. Jungles of Delthrak
3. Mage of the Mirror
4. Frozen Horror
5. Rise of the Dread Moon
6. Return of the Witch Lord
7. Kelors Keep
8. Prophecy of Telor
9. Spirit Queen's Torment
B:
@RoninGrey @BowsacNoodle There is an undead tree golem called a Skullblight in the Jungles of Delthrak expansion, but no.
I did homebrew an Artificer class with some 3D printed automata to use in battle. There are already rules for animal companions, so you can use those for something equivalent.
I also recommend 3D printing replacements for the tokens, but the tokens are fine if you don't have access to a 3D printer.
@Tfmonkey @BowsacNoodle Damn! There's a lich in here! And some rats and tiny skulls! (I'm only just now really able to sit down and look at it all carefully.) This is waaaay better bang for your buck than D&D.
@RoninGrey @BowsacNoodle I paint everything but the bosses in generic shades so they can be used to represent more than one character when needed.
The Lich is the "Dread Sorcerer" mini, and you can use him for any NPC spellcaster. There is a female variant in the Spirit Queen's Torment expansion.
The Sorcerer could be a lich, or simply a Cultist wearing a skull mask. That's why it's best to paint them generically.
Here is the Dread Cultist from the Rise of the Dread Moon expansion w/ masks
@BowsacNoodle @RoninGrey here are some of my oversized (couldn't fit in the normal 25mm mini holders I made which fit most of the minis.
I also give the "bosses" a little extra color but not too much as I want them to be generic too.
Some of these are 3D printed
@Tfmonkey @BowsacNoodle Who's the robot guy!
@Tfmonkey Oh, that looks like metal wood?
@RoninGrey I use an FDM printer, so it leaves "layer lines", but the minis still look good enough, and they're plastic, which means they're much more durable than minis printed on a resin printer (unless you use really expensive resin).
@Tfmonkey This fellow right here. I like him and the snake.
@RoninGrey here is where you can download the STL file to 3D print: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/iron-golem-2-forg3dx
@Tfmonkey Thank you, sir.
@Tfmonkey @BowsacNoodle The sarcophagus opens up!!
@Tfmonkey @BowsacNoodle Is there anything similar to automatons in any of these? Or do you have an idea for which mobs would be good to just modify stats for and use as an automaton? I love that shit.
