For at least the last 15 years, cars have essentially been computers with a shit-ton of telemetry that phones home.

Even 15 years ago, the Mercedes S-Class contained approx 20 million lines of code from what I've heard.

If you want to escape this, buy a vintage car and then add the modern bits you personally want.
