Was in Walmart the other day and walked past all the TVs. Can you even buy a TV that's not a smart TV these days? I spent 5 minutes looking for one and couldn't find one at any size.

I foresaw myself coming up against this problem 5 years ago and got myself the largest dumb TV I could find at the time. Still going strong.

Looks like you can buy them online if I am to believe the search result website descriptions but I did not bother to go to the websites to check

@UncleIroh I've got a 65" LG I've had for almost a decade. Almost got rid of it last move, but now I'm glad I kept it.

@RegalBeagle

Nice. Keep that bad boy and don't succumb to the tyranny of back-doored "Smart-TVs" with their pre-programmed ROMs.

No in-built bluetooth, microphones, wifi, or ethernet.

You can get all the benefits of a smart TV by plugging in a raspberry pi or equivalent, loaded with FOSS media software via HDMI.

There are tons of articles about it. Here's just one: safereddit.com/r/privacy/comme

@UncleIroh I had it hooked up to a Pi running Kodi back before they clamped down on all the good illegal streaming sites. I'll get it all set up again one of these days. Moving sucks.

@RegalBeagle

I hear you.

Currently procrastinating on setting up a media Pi too.
