Hopefully enough people nope out of the ID bullshit that the social media companies' revenue collapses and then they twist the politician's arms into repealing it.

It's concerning that this shit is "all of the sudden" spreading all over the place after Cuckstralia did it.

Did you know that in most parts of the developed world, minors are incapable of agreeing to binding contracts? That means they can't get access to mobile data plans or home Internet connections without an adult's help, making it very easy for parents and legal guardians to just not fucking give it to them. But no, for the kids' sake (totally for the kids' sake we swear guys) we need to expand the surveillance state tenfold and burn any kind of anonymous discussion online to the ground.

It's just going to push online discussion even further out of the government's hands. Tard countries will have to choose between IP blocking more internet than China or watching their stupid internet laws become completely toothless as everyone just uses a new social media site run out of Somalia.

If the EU goes Great Firewall mode I'm gonna laugh when they inevitably start screeching about VPNs and try to go scorched earth on those too.
@dcc @Hoss @cowanon @gentoobro We kind of are. There are over a dozen states that require a divers license in order to coom online
I don't mind the porno sites getting absolutely fucked in the revenue department on a state-by-state level. Easy enough to navigate around for the 1% who understand VPNs, starves the pornographer kikes of clicks and ad rev from the other 99% who don't. There's a reason every state that passes one of those laws ignites a new round of seething from obscenity merchants like Pornhub.

I don't like anything that requires online ID verification. It's a much worse evil, the kind that leads to communism.

I getchya, but I also like seeing pornographers get kicked in the teeth by state legislatures. I don't mind if their sites get treated with a special set of unfriendly rules.

The foot in the door is the problem. I want a constitutional amendment making online ID verification completely illegal, even for financial services.

And I want a constitutional amendment making me king for life, both are roughly as likely to pass.

All the more reason to resist any attempt to de-anonymize the internet in any way. If they take the internet, we're fucked. They'll have all the benefit of technology in oppression and propaganda and we'll have sticks and stones against it.

@gentoobro @cowanon @LordOfTheKangs @Hoss Member what happened to ham and encryption, they will try the same funny shit soon or later.

Perhaps, though online commerce requires encryption. Amazon won't just let that slide in America. Some countries will try though, and either fail miserably or rapidly deindustrialize.

I feel like they've been trying and the internet has largely routed around it. They keep capturing the popular sites and censoring them and new ones keep popping up, each more resilient than the last. Imagine trying to censor fedi using their usual monopoly and money tricks.

@gentoobro @dcc @cowanon @Hoss Odysee completely demonetized all their dissident streamers because a fat pig tattletaled and threatened DMCA on transformative content. Over a dozen streamers were affected because they talked to the people the tattletale complained about.
The blatant and rampant weaponization of the DMCA is what pushed me over the edge into Total Copyright Death. I just don't give a motherfucking god damn about anything copyright cucks have to say regarding IP law anymore. If they didn't want me to turn into an anti-copyright zealot, they should've averted course before DMCA abuse became this absolute fucking scourge against free discourse on the Internet that has pissed me off to no end.

@Hoss I just don't think it's possible for people to "own" ideas or concepts. That's insane to me. That's clearly not law written in common sense, but law written by corporations for profitization. ---Which, is evident in how convoluted it is: common-sense laws, like "don't kill other people", is straightforward; Copyright and IP laws require pages upon pages of bullshit to justify and explain themselves existing. I'm against copyrights, I'm against patents, I'm against all "intellectual property"---an oxymoronic term/concept. If you can manufacture a product better or cheaper than someone else, regardless if you invented it yourself or not, that's good for innovation and good for the consumer. @dcc @gentoobro @cowanon @LordOfTheKangs

good

I own the number 4. You used a word with 4 letters, which is a violation of my copyright. That'll be $100,000, please.
