@Mr_Mister - Call me an optimist, and while I realize it's fictionalized... I'm reminded of Robert the Bruce in Braveheart.
Robert cucked, and even betrayed William Wallace. But his conscience ate at him until the battle of Bannockburn in the closing scene. And he didn't see William's vision of a free Scotland, until after the possibility seemed to disappear. The realization of how close they had come, finally sunk in.
Matter of fact, I should probably go watch Braveheart again...
