"This isn't about improving efficiency, it's about completely eliminating human labor costs."
I mean . . . that sounds pretty fucking efficient to me. Like, maximized efficiency. One MIGHT say that maximized efficiency is pretty well improved efficiency, indeed.
@RoninGrey He's crying about something that won't happen. Robotics like any form of automation will never fully replace human labor, and it never has. Automation makes existing labor more productive.
@DoubleD No, it absolutely will replace what he's talking about. I don't think anyone thinks it's going to replace all human labor. If that is what he said then he's either retarded or being hyperbolic. But I don't remember him saying he believes that all human labor will be replaced.
@RoninGrey @DoubleD
This topic has been solved already, it's not the first time in history that technology (starting from animal husbandry, I would say) has replaced human labor.
The modern era even has a term for people against these advancements, luddites.
Discussing how fast can we progress these technologies to make people's lives better is the real question: our standard of living has been quite stagnant and even declining in many places during the last decades.
@RoninGrey @DoubleD Maybe. But every time I watch these videos that focus on "jobs, jobs, jobs", I always take everything with a grain of salt because that's the message that governments send to their peons: "Work for that printed token goy".
IMO he's looking through the wrong frame of mind: humans don't exist to solve problems and work their whole lives for no reason; we exist to live, create, enjoy and benefit from what reality offer us. Robots are tools to that end.

That would be our greatest achievement, if we can imbue our children with the wisdom we've taken our life to gather and learn.
We can hope they listen and don't suffer unnecessarily, building up from where we leave off.
@Zeb @DoubleD Beautifully put. I'm trying to get there too. I've been good about choosing raising my son over making tons of money, but I still really want to replace the need to work and BUY my food, with the ability to spend that time growing my own more and more.
It feels more and more like it's getting to be too late for me. I'm hoping to pass on the skills and drive to my son to be able to do it young.
