He is quoted as saying that the relevant Pearson correlation coefficients in these studies - the 'r' value - tops out at 0.6 for grades-to-IQ, and 0.25 for grades-to-conscientiousness, which if true is pretty high for that field.
But yes, corruption is a huge deal. Parents buying their kids Ivy league places is the least of it.
The entire education ecosystem from K through to post-grad peer review is a cesspool of corruption.
Almost nothing worth saving from it.

Eric Weinstein, while being an obnoxious Jew, does a decent job of pointing out academic corruption.
He calls Harvard a hedge fund that happens to also have a university, which is true.
He also explains how it and other Ivy Leagues function as government and defense partners whose main job is to create, maintain and gatekeep scholarship that supports foreign and domestic policy narratives at the expense of truth.

I was waiting for this, i knew you would find a way to weave them in even how over-represented they are and academia. 
I always knew the ivy league was a social club for the elite but I didn't know how deep the rabbit hole went.

Well the way Ivy Leagues have trashed their reputations over the last decade, they may as well be expensive community colleges.
Employers don't look on them as favorably as they used to.
As an aside, according to a ZipRecruiter survey the most useless degrees that students regretted the most were journalism, sociology, and liberal arts.
I can't imagine anyone takes those seriously anymore. Good riddance.

The institutions are a joke and I'm not going to spend the rest of my life outrage d about what some liberal arts dummy of the day has to say.
I already got my 2nd passport.
I'm working on the $ and when I hit my # I'm gone.
