I just read this fantastic book "Fooled by Randomness" by Nassim Taleb.

I learned:

1. People decide emotionally and justify it with logic.

2. No decision is made without emotion.

3. Self-Introspection takes courage, which most people lack.

So all arguing is wasted time unless you make $ from it because if it doesn't feel right you won't change anyone's mind.
