This is not to say there are not the hardcore types who operate only to oppose the other side. Donald Trump has made many people come out of the woodwork who merely want to oppose him at all costs. I recall RFK Jr getting opposition from the New York Times when he criticized the use of artificial coloring in food, only for them to fall over themselves in proclaiming "there is very little difference" in non-artificial sources. The only difference being: the artificial source itself.

This is not to say that there is never anyone who has changed their views. But generally this is not due to some well crafted argument made by some pundit, but rather a life experience.

My dad for example used to be a liberal Democrat. That changed the moment he started paying taxes. For those like him, there is value in the information presented by pundits, since they now have a necessity to discover what they were never hearing due to a major turning point in their lives.

I have seen examples both on the left and right accusing the other side of not having any actual values other than opposing their enemy. I see this accusation as mostly untrue for both sides. Rather, I suspect that most people have already made up their minds on their political views and see no value in trying to repackage their message to appeal to those who are inherently opposed to those ideas.

So we see less of that kind of engagement attempted, thus "no actual values" are seen.

@ApocalyptoLatte1488 While this is a selfish act for her to do, she could have done worse by having an abortion. At least her daughter is alive, though now she has to live knowing her mom abandoned her to be a selfish asshole.

@sickburnbro let's see more years than one to get a better idea of what the trend is and if this was a lower than usual year or not.

@shortstories Sometimes, yes. It comes from true believers as well who are not getting tax dollars too, because they geniunely think that our bloated bureaucracy of a system is good and cutting jobs is bad not only because of the government workers no longer having make work jobs but that those jobs are supposedly critical to "running our country."

Many women don't know this, but you still have to make food and wash clothes when you're single.

Seeing many talking heads make a big deal out of government employees possibly losing their jobs does not inspire any sympathy from me. When there are economic struggles on any scale in the private sector, people lose their jobs. Why should government employees get special status of job protection?

Yes, cuts do often happen to government jobs, but I see far more protest at government jobs lost than losses in the private sector.

@atomic >Queering and Decolonizing Theater Practice

Theater is already very "Queered," so it pointless to do any more of that.

@BroDrillard Hate these fucking people. Everything is looked at like a six yr old t ball team. Doesn't matter if youre good or not everyone has to play

@Aether >greatest cinematic masterpieces in the history of films

So doing a competent job on super hero movies is enough to qualify for a cinematic masterpiece, huh? I will admit I enjoyed the early movies, but let us not kid ourselves into thinking they were among the greatest movies ever. They were movies made for the masses, and they succeeded.

And the later films certainly have not maintained the same quality.

@deprecated_ii @Heil_Honkler @redneonglow @Nudhul I guess the "green bubble shamers" are more interested in homosexual men than heterosexual ones, since I cannot think of anything more gay than owning an iPhone as a man.

Okay, I will be fair and say that you can be a straight man and have an iPhone. But if you "green bubble shame" as a man you are engaging in women behavior. Because if you are a man why do you care what someone else uses for their phone? It is just a tool you use.

Got my daily dose of cringe with NPR talking about the pay gap in women's sports compared to men, where they stated "Although men pro athletes get paid X times more than women pro athletes, the women athletes get more traffic on social media."

As if social media is not full of fake/bot posting. And along with that, social media being used more by women. And being talked about online does not correlate with real life popularity all the time either.
