If you are smart, you can tweak his advice and come out ahead (e.g. pay off highest interest debt first, not smallest numerical amounts as he prescribes). The thing is that many people are not smart, thus his advice is best for those types.

@Aether I don't see this take quite as braindead as "food comes from the store, not farms," but it is not much better. Rather he seems to think growing food is easy and anyone could do it. Regarding every rationalization or excuse the left gives for their agitators to be allowed to do whatever they want without consequences, remember this: they do not truly believe their own rationalizations.
