@RehnyNytes256 Hey I mean ever the family of Christ did not acknowledge or support him, save for His Mother and two Cousins (the latter after His resurrection). There is even a passage in scripture when His extended family wanted to arrest Him (probably out of shame) while he taught a multitude around Him. When Christ heard that His family is looking for Him, He replied who is my family but those around me (the listeners): spiritual over blood bond.

@RehnyNytes256 I mean that most of the things that their parents used to live (while they lived) go to the trash isn't anything bad imo, and it's not proving anything either. I saw a documentary about how they do the same in Japan as a rule, throwing everything the descendants don't need away, so that a whole house firs into a small suitcase (in the documentary) for important mementos. In the end, I don't think it's about the material, and I don't think it ever was.

@graf @p @PoastSupport I'm not accusing you of anything here, but curious how it's another chance to post "give me money please"

Today I'm at a different beach, further Northwest, and it's funny how it's 98% German tourists. Whereas in Malia it was perfectly British territory, along with pubs and whatever your average Brit expects. Funny how even on vacation, and even if they're related (like Germans and Brits are) people tend to segregate automatically.

@Justicar you think the formaldehyde and countless unknown toxins created when cigarettes are burned magically evaporates outside? or do you think they are sucked upward to the sky? even if outside the toxic smoke affects multiple people often 10-20 meters far, and it is toxic and disgusting. I moved to a different sunbed now, but better if that issue would be banned entirely. It's not needed for humans to survive or enjoy themselves and only emits poison

People who smoke at the beach are complete cancer. Just ban these poison sticks already, EU wide. The herd will either adapt to something else or forget about it anyway.

@WhitestTemplar @Shlomo yea that's the stated goal though, to be a deciding factor when votes lean towards gridlock

Long Story Short — Mini Review

The Nier Automata novelization by Jun Eishima is serviceable, albeit with some drawbacks. Eishima adequately summarizes the events of the game, yet overwhelmingly fails to provide similar levels of immersion as the game, with moments that exceed the game being rare (but memorable) exceptions.

The English translation tries to stay faithful to the original Japanese with an almost self-defeating loyalty. This stems from the fact that Japanese as a language often chains bits of information into one sentence with the actual verb coming at the very end. These trains can contain information across the entire spectrum of narrative elements. Some may call such constructs a sort of blending; other words that may also be applicable are cramped, confusing, and compressed with a loss of potential impact.

Beyond that, the text reads often like a battle or action log, providing little to no additional detail for subtext or the metaphysical (different POVs in-between chapters being an exception). Thus when the pace slows down to provide more interior angles, it can feel jarring and even out of place, instead of seamlessly enhancing the battle log.

With all that being said it would be unfair to judge the female author based on the ungrateful task of novelizing (summarizing) Taro's game, for her talent can and does shine through occasionally, like a distant sun breaking through intense battlefield smoke.

Well wow what a shitty story with dysfunctional drama, aborted plot, and a castrated theme. I gave Ridley Scott the benefit of the doubt but when Philipp K Dick appeared during the ending credits it reminded me why Blade Runner sucked so hard. It's another work where its contribution to tradition (especially the visual language) vastly exceeds its own merit, which is hardly above that of a TV feature/show and completely forgettable. Ford's limp Jewish performance is the icing on the cake.

Watching Blade Runner (for the first time, for some reason). In the 80s the technological advancement trajectory was such that they really thought in 2019 we'd have flying cars, robots indistinguishable from humans, off-planet mining, and a multiracial America where multiple languages compete over the same territory. Looks like only one of those things came true.

8 Hours Ago — 🚨🚨🚨 THE POPE MENTIONS THE ISRAELI ARMY AS GUILTY PARTY

Context: So far he refrained from mentioning Israel. The replies to this are a warzone and I don't think Jews are winning.

@j An Israeli tank fired at the only Catholic Church in Gaza, the Church of the Holy Family, killing three and wounding nine (the priest among the wounded). Pope Francis used to call that parish everyday before his death. The event led the new Pope to call Netanyahu, and for the first time in years both the Latin and Orthodox Patriarchs were allowed to enter Gaza. It was historic when they entered together like brothers under the applause, kisses, and embraces of the people.

Looks like Zelinsky's time is up. America understands that Russia has won, and the longer the war goes on the bigger Russia's victory will be. Russia will not negotiate with an illegitimate president. Ukraine will get elections or an interim government, and then peace.

@Terry @randbot @Shlomo not sure that makes sense geopolitically. could be equipment that arrived via the black market without russian intention
