Money can get someone married but it can not make their spouse love them

@shortstories Love is stupid. You can't build anything lasting based on emotion and least of all, a woman's love.

@redmaple
@shortstories I agree with everything except:

> Love is stupid

Love is great, just don't base major life decisions around temporal emotional states.

@basedbagel @redmaple

Love should not be a erotic emotional state but an attitude of desiring the other person's well being combined with an action to promote their well being if possible

Sounds like you want your own dictionary.

@redmaple @basedbagel

I was talking about agape love in the original post not eros love

No you do not need a new dictionary for this

@redmaple @basedbagel

Someone can feel like they like someone or alternatively they can try to do what is in someone's best interest even when they do not have emotional fun out of interacting with that person in the present moment

I am not sure the modern meanings match original

Might actually need a new dictionary

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agape

Agape identifies with the interests of the neighbor "in utter independence of the question of his attractiveness" and with no expectation of reciprocity

@shortstories @basedbagel

I don't consider wanting or expecting agape love to be realistic. It's a recipe for disappointment.

A simpler request and expectation is obedience.

@redmaple @basedbagel

I think agape is a unrealistic expectation but commitment to seek someone's well being even when it does not feel emotionally fun is realistic

Which is why a new dictionary word for yet another definition of some specific type of love might be necessary

100% Obedience of a wife to her husband is not in the husbands best interest

If the husband makes a foolish request of his wife that will actually harm him then it is not in her best interest to obey

@tiskaan @basedbagel @redmaple

typo

If the husband makes a foolish request of his wife that will actually harm him then it is not in her best interest to obey

should be

If the husband makes a foolish request of his wife that will actually harm him then it is not in his best interest for her to obey

@shortstories @tiskaan @basedbagel

"commitment to seek someone's well being even when it does not feel emotionally fun is realistic"

Dependence. Like financial dependence.

Obedience objection is silly. You are picking a rare exception to disqualify the vast majority of cases

@redmaple @tiskaan @basedbagel

Obedience in vast majority of cases might be reasonable

But there should be certain exceptions

Such as obedience except if the husband says something that would be unethical to do

People might debate about what is unethical, but that is just trying to know more details about what the exceptions are

It would not be in your best interest to live in a society where wives are expected to obey their husbands at all times

What if a man told his wife to murder you

@shortstories @tiskaan @basedbagel

Lmao. You lost the plot. Now you are just circling back with another rare situation. And one that is already handled under murder situations.

I'm done.
