@basedbagel Well, technically to deprive someone of their personal property is Theft.
In a school setting this should simply warrant discipline. Confiscation is put of line, even in a parochial school.
This liability falls on the parents for allowing the student to come to school with it; and does warrant a detention, up to and including a suspension, perhaps for the student.

I respected my teachers out of fear of my parents beating my ass.
These kids are clearly neglected and mentally ill to even feel comfortable fighting a teacher.
I'm going to sound like a boomer but back in my day nobody ever did put their hands on the teacher. Maybe a couple yelling matches here and there but never a fight.
