How do you know it was karate or which kind?

What narrows it down to karate is the punching. Kickboxing and savate use boxing-style punching, so they're out. That's the karate straight punch, usually done to the body, but here he's doing it to the head.
He tends to square up and get in close, which is a very kyokushin habit, where they like to absorb body shots to toughen up.
They actually teach spinning hook kick in some schools jujitsu but they teach it as part of a drill to defend against it
The attacker has to practice it so the other person can practice defending against it
They teach a straight punch for the same reason
They might make people of all ranks do that for warm up
Someone can actually learn a spinning hook kick from watching videos and practicing on their own without a instructor
Also straight punches are in multiple karate styles
