Let's say I want to use Linux and I already have a chromebook

Under no circumstances am I going to buy a computer with microsoft or apple software

Should I get a new Linux only computer to use Linux or should I use a chromebook?

The Chromebook keyboard is not as good but the Chromebook operating system is better than windows as far as I am concerned

It has a built in app that says something like "Linux terminal"

Are there any beginner guides for linux on chromebook?

I would just buy a $35 Raspberry Pi 3 and dick around with that. Chromebooks are garbage. I think the internet has successfully put Linux on one, but not sure it was a plug n play process. I use VMWare Player 17 and run Linux that way. All free to run on the desktop. Also, a good option.

Does the rasberry pi come with a monitor? Looked it up on wikipedia and the picture is a chip and a keyboard but no monitor

I have a built gaming rig with Win 11 on it.
Then VMWare on that. Plenty of horsepower to run anything.

If I set up the rasberry pi how do I instal! a operating system if it does not start with an operating system?

You load the Linux OS (or any OS) on a micro-SD card.

Yea I knew I read the Linux OS replacement on Chromebooks and understood it could be a process. Not impossible, but probably better off buying a cheap laptop Craigslist or something.
Yea it’s almost 3am, and I’m being lazy right now to look up a proper installation video. Easy to google, though…
Sudo dd if=<os image> of=/dev/sd(device letter)

Simple as.

So would the rasberry pi pretty much have to stay in one place on a table after the monitor is installed or could it be a portable computer that I would not accidentally break moving it with the monitor? Something I could use on a bed and then put back in a computer carrying case when I am done for example?

Raspberry Pi is small. Like the size of a cellphone but a little thicker. Easily portable, just connect a monitor.
