For the Class of 1990, MIT admitted way more women and 'diversity' than it had in previous years. As a result, over half of the new freshmen flunked the required freshman physics class, Physics 8.01. Usually, when a smart kid wants to avoid work, he will fabricate elaborate bullshit to talk himself out of it. I did plenty of that myself when I was younger.

When an adult tells me such elaborate lies in all seriousness, I perceive the person as out of touch with reality. Almost like a child who never grew up. They're usually really good at talking you into things. Very persuasive. You have to leave their reality distortion field to gain clarity and make your own decisions.
