@Tfmonkey

Have you heard of pinephone? It’s a Linux based phone, would this work with project nomad? I don’t have a android so would need to get a new phone anyway. Not sure which route to go.

@Chimi_Chuang_Tzu Damn, I'd love to hear a follow-up on this if you go that route. I HAVE to do SOMETHING. It's a lot of time and effort and I need to have my shit figured out before I take action in this case. In the meantime, I only have a half-assed, poorly-researched temporary plan.

Yah I’ll need to do some more research but figured TFM might already have some insight. Seems like it should work but I know nothing about Linux. Phone is only 200 bucks so seems like a good plan instead of trying a patchwork android solution.

Hey Bud, did a little digging. The pinephone was recently discontinued due to lack of popularity. Turns out even the pro model isn't ideal for Nomad. You need a min of 8GB of ram but the more the better. If you want to run this on a phone you'll need a 1k price tier phone like librem 5 phone or OnePlus 13. The cheapest solution is to get a small PC for 250 and run linux off it. Draw back to that is you need wall power to run. You also need 500GB or hard drive space.
