My ancestry traces back to the Lusitanians, which fought valiantly against the Romans and eventually got conquered. After a few generations, they became fully Romanized, becoming roman citizens and even adopting their Latin language.
I'm definitely proud of all of them, both the italian/roman and the portuguese side. A statue still exist to the general Viriathus who resisted the Romans despite their eventual defeat.
