Sorry about your hard drive @Tfmonkey I had the same thing happen to me after lightning struck my laptop.

I would highly recommend getting a second hard drive and setting it to auto-backup your stuff periodically.

You could also use the cloud but:
1. Local storage is cheaper
2. I don't trust big tech with my data

@basedbagel @Tfmonkey easy just use Mega.nz made by kim dotcom, fully encrypted, they cant see what you have, works on windows, mac, linux, android, iphone, even raspberry pi. Servers are in Europe but again they are fully encrypted if you louse your master key you are fucked.

It's a good suggestion as I've used them before but IMO unless you're a business local storage is so cheap these days why pay another monthly fee?
