@shortstories @sardonicsmile It was also a big handout to car companies. The government gives "free" money to people that goes toward new cars, suddenly new cars are in higher demand. This is also when new cars suddenly got a lot more expensive.

I do think "planned obsolescence" theory had something to do with it.
Dumping money into a market makes the prices go up? Who would have guessed!

Probably so they could replace them with cars with special software to make repairs more difficult and so it would be more difficult for people to get cars that can not be location tracked
