The Council mandated that Jews separate and distinguish themselves, in order to "protect" Christians from their influence.
Lateran IV
@shortstories Very nice, but it doesn't disprove the facts I mentioned, nor does it turn Judeo Christianity into a net positive in any way. It's controlled opposition, but in a much more violent era. Everything the Church did to Jews, they did a thousand times worse to gentiles ("pagans"). And that anti-Jewish/anti-usury sentiment was a thing in Rome way before Christianity, they merely maintained it for a while but eventually bent the knee. Not impressed.
@Based_Accelerationist @shortstories I don't think anyone will win this argument but maybe you both agree this is pretty bad ass!
@Based_Accelerationist
"First, to set fire to their synagogues or schools ... This is to be done in honor of our Lord and of Christendom, so that God might see that we are Christians ..."
"Second, I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed."
""Sixth, I advise that usury be prohibited to them, and that all cash and treasure of silver and gold be taken from them ..."
