The reason for this is very well documented.
It's because of the adoption of Standpoint Theory in academia: https://www.britannica.com/topic/standpoint-theory
tl;dr It's a Marxist attack on epistemology (knowledge) that effectively says "History is what I say it is because it's from my standpoint"
It literally allows them to rewrite and conceal any history or fact they don't like, and it's in all the Humanities of every college, and moving into STEM.
You're 100% right not to trust.
