The term means someone who offers no real opposition and helps push the establishment's agenda (knowingly or not). Trump locked down the country, surrounded himself with deep state puppets, oversaw operation warpspeed, set up his own supporters on J6 and keeps the Right in check, by giving them false hope in elections.
If he was controlled opposition, what would he have done differently?

Not threatening pulling out of nato over Europe not paying enough. You don't cross the rubicon and violate centuries of legal precedent, then go after all of Trumps allies AND his lawyers, to send a message that everyone with him is fucked, over controlled opposition.
