It finally clicked once I heard about the papal front-runner; Francis’s life’s work was in doing absolutely everything in his power to see to it that his successor would be a nigger.

@Twig Precisely. Francis has created the exact precise conditions wherein this circumstance would arise.

@Twig Yes, of course they are saying that. Francis absolutely saw to it they would.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica

Francis said that all suffering people have a human right to seek sanctuary in a better place and he pointed out that Joseph, Mary and Jesus were refugees who fled to Egypt so Herod couldn’t kill them.

A compelling argument for Christians?

@Twig @KingOfWhiteAmerica Francis was incorrect. The act of flight is neither moral nor immoral, and as such it is not incumbent upon another country to accept anyone for any reason or grant someone a right of passage into said country. The person in question is irrelevant from a moral perspective because flight as such is non-moral.

@DoubleD @KingOfWhiteAmerica

A compelling theological argument for Christians….

Jesus the Nazarene commanded his followers to help the poor and disenfranchised, not turn them away…
@Twig @DoubleD @KingOfWhiteAmerica in the end Christians should be refocusing their aid to local communities instead of hte international one, outreaching to THEIR communities not sending more missionaries to africa hell send them to europe Lord knows they could use it, but in american more outreach needs to happen cuz the church focuses on everyone but it's own local community.
@reallyangry @DoubleD @KingOfWhiteAmerica

Correct, even Francis acknowledged the right of countries to establish law.

Christian can and should help many disadvantaged people as possible but must be done in a responsible way.

@Twig @reallyangry @DoubleD It is bad Christian witness to empower gangs of thugs to threaten your literal neighbors’ kids.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @DoubleD @reallyangry

A significant minority are criminals, who endanger the public, suffering for migrants themselves.

@Twig @KingOfWhiteAmerica @reallyangry I can't tell if someone disagreed with my point.

My follow-up question to the point about helping people is how do you define "help"? Is it giving someone a place to stay when they are a chronic bad decision-maker, or is it making someone suffer the consequences of their decisions?

What if literally closing the door on someone makes them realized how bad they've made their life, and gives them the initiative to truly repent?

@DoubleD @KingOfWhiteAmerica @reallyangry

Doubled, why did God make you?

Jesus said help the poor and disenfranchised but in that pursuit, if we endanger them and the public, then it does more harm than good, obviously unintended consequences of compassion.

I think HE would agree that it must be done in a responsible, disciplined way.

I'm not being intentionally obtuse: I know what you mean in common parlance, but I want you to think about the subjective nature of what is beneficial and non-beneficial for people. Only God knows what is truly best for them. I would highly recommend reading "Who is the Rich Man That Shall Be Saved?" by St. Clement of Alexandria to grasp that I'm aiming for something below the surface-level interpretation.
