Lots of people complaining about The Acolyte and Star Wars canon who loved the prequels, and didn't care about how the prequels did so much that didn't make sense or outright retconned cool things into stupid, worse things.

I'm an OT-only guy, myself. Non-specialized edition.

@RoninGrey The prequels made Star Wars better and were created with love, unlike anything Disney made. There were always bad decisions, it didn't start with the prequels. Take episode VI for instance. It's full of laziness and bad choices. From Luke's nonsensical plan to save Han that is nothing more than an excuse for the writers to utilize multiple sets, another freaking Death Star, to the whole Ewok battle, very few moments in that movie were anything more than fluff.

@Based_Accelerationist My point was about changing things in a way that doesn't fit in the timeline in the prequels vs The Acolyte now. I'm addressing those complaints, people clutching pearls over "muh canon."

I reject the prequels, but I don't dispute anything you said, just add an asterisk *They were "created with love" but weren't done with competence nor FOR love of the product.

I know Lucas "retconned" by Episode V already, but it wasn't like a blatant F.U. that was never even addressed.

@RoninGrey Alright then. So, timeline inconsistencies aside, can you give some examples of things the prequels retconned for the worse? Because I can't think of anything at the moment, especially when compared to the example I just gave. In my opinion, there are few things a writer can do that are worse than cheapening the very concept of death.

@Based_Accelerationist Padme dying of a broken heart, midichlorians (hated by nearly all at the time), Vader being a pussy, Obi-Wan taking Vader's lightsaber rather than being told he wanted Luke to have it, Anakin making 3PO because for some reason everything had to be connected to Vader, the Jedi being misguided retards. I prefer the "This is the good guy and this is the bad guy" simplicity in Star Wars. This can all be disputed by matter of opinion, but man they really rub me the wrong way.

@RoninGrey What did you want Padme to die of? They said she lost the will to live, which is sometimes the best way doctors can describe it, when it happens. Not an issue if you ask me.

Midichlorians are a clever idea. I dare you to actually explain why you dislike them.

I will give you C3PO, I forgot that.

The Jedi weren't retards, they were corrupt. No problem there.

Whenever someone says they just want a simple good vs bad story, that can only mean they want it to be for children.

@RoninGrey Then you have Force Ghosts. The concept was fine in episode IV, a Jedi could slightly prolong their conscience just long enough to offer some guidance to the next generation. But by episode VI, it's clear Jedi are immortal, which not only cheapens death itself but goes against their entire philosophy of accepting death, becoming one with the Force and letting go. Talk about bad writing.

Rejecting the prequels while being a fan of episode 6 is honestly laughable.

@Based_Accelerationist I'm really happy that people like you and TFM like the prequels. They're definitely "Star Wars" but just not my cup of tea. I finished Epiaode VI feeling great. I walked out after the end of Episode III saying "THAT'S our Darth Vader? What a whiny bitch."

But anyway, I'm just saying, as we both pointed out concerning Episode V, that if The Acolyte is their first time seeing "canon" not working, they're retarded.

@RoninGrey I don't think TFM likes the prequels, he often repeats bad arguments he heard from Red Letter Media, the same hacks who praised TFA. Professional reviewers my ass.

Yup, Vader was a pathetic slave in the OT who would almost murder his own son just because his master told him to. What kind of person do you think becomes someone like Vader in real life? That's right, probably someone you'd call a whiny bitch. Prequels' Anakin was perfect (except for the actor's age in the first movie).

@Based_Accelerationist If you put on a prequel while I was visiting I'd watch It with you. As long as you don't quote all of the meme lines along with the movie.

@Based_Accelerationist I do disagree that they "made Star Wars better." That's not something I'm interested in even discussing, but you have to know that's a controversial statement. I was there for the prequels as an adult, Gandalf, and they were the ones who brought in the modern-day shitty "fans" and were generally panned by at least half of the original fangroup.

@RoninGrey I wasn't there to see it, but when I say they "made Star Wars better", I'm talking specifically about the story/lore/characters.
I wouldn't care about Star Wars if it wasn't for the prequels. Simple good vs evil stories never interested me and that's all Star Wars would be without them.
The Jedi living on a literal ivory tower, worrying about losing power both over the Force and the universe, while the people vote their way into a dictatorship, is far more interesting if you ask me.

@TenaciousGoat Thanks. I think the jacket is a bit much. It's a struggle sometimes to keep the AI from trying to just create Rocket Raccoon.
